GLENDALE, Ariz. -- A dynamic running back and a stifling defense have the Arizona Cardinals back to .500.Offensive problems galore have the New York Jets in a freefall.David Johnson ran 58 yards for a touchdown the second time he touched the ball, the first of his three scores in the Cardinals 28-3 victory over the Jets on Monday night. An unbelievable job up front, Arizona quarterback Carson Palmer said. I had a really good view of it. We were man-to-man. We had everybody blocked. He did a great job of setting up his second level blocks, and then he showed that explosion and that speed down the sideline.Johnson rushed for 111 yards and scored three touchdowns. Arizona (3-3) outgained the Jets on the ground 171-33. New York entered the game second in the NFL in run defense at 68 yards per game. The Cardinals have won two in a row with a Sunday night home game against Seattle coming up.New York (1-5) managed only a 39-yard field goal by Nick Folk.Holding them to three points was unbelievable, Palmer said. We were flying around on defense. We were hitting the quarterback. We were stopping the run game, contesting some of the passes in there.Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall said his teams performance was just not good enough. All over the place, across the board, just wasnt good enough, he said.Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick was benched after New Yorks best drive of the night ended in an interception in the end zone. Geno Smith came on, and his lone series ended in Tyrann Mathieus first interception of the season .You never want to be pulled out of a game in that situation, Fitzpatrick said. But its not something I can sit and hang my head. I have to keep a positive outlook, but not in a situation you want to be in.Smith would like to have his shot at the job, of course, when the Jets play at home against Baltimore on Sunday.Every guy who isnt out there wants to be out there, he said. That is just the nature of the business. Here are some things to consider from the Cardinals dominant win over New York.SHORT GAINS: The Jets took the long passes away that have been Arians trademark, so the Cardinals were content to go with shorter stuff. They made us get rid of the ball quick, Palmer said. They did a number of things to put us in situations where the ball had to come out quick. I feel like we normally have big chunk plays. They forced us to get rid of it quick and we did a good job capitalizing in those situations. The Cardinals had a touchdown drive of 11 plays and two more of 14 plays.RUNNING WILD: A week after he rushed for 157 yards at San Francisco, Johnson was at it again. After rushing for 111 and catching three passes for 27 yards, Johnson leads the NFL in yards from scrimmage with 833. His eight rushing touchdowns also are most in the league.PALMERS HAMSTRING: Palmer, who had missed the previous contest with a concussion, left the game with a strained hamstring after his nine-yard touchdown pass to Michael Floyd in the fourth quarter.Arians said he didnt think it was anything serious, and Palmer brushed it off.Just cramping, he said. A number of long, long-play drives, just a little dehydration, a little cramp.OFFENSIVE WOES: Coach Todd Bowles said there is much more to the Jets offensive woes than the quarterback play. Were not scoring. Were not moving the ball, he said. A whole bunch of things wrong, obviously. The coaches, the players. Were not making plays. Were not putting them in the right position to make plays, obviously by the results. As coaches, weve got to do a better job. As players, weve got to do a better job.Bowles said the offensive problems Monday night stemmed from a lack of time for Fitzpatrick in the pocket. It definitely wasnt Fitzs fault, Bowles said. I mean, he barely had time to throw. So, anybody wed have put back there would have had a problem I think.REPLACEMENT GUARDS: The Cardinals got good performances from Earl Watford and John Wetzel in their first start at guard after injuries sidelined Evan Mathis and Mike Iupati.Arians was especially pleased with Watfords downfield blocking on Johnsons long TD run.Our job is to run the ball and protect, Watford said. That is what we did today.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and www.twitter.com/AP-NFL Air Max 720 Clearance . Here are his mid-season NBA awards. MVP: (KEVIN DURANT-Thunder) - Has been sensational this season and more importantly, the most consistent player in the league. Robredo, ranked No. 16, bounced back from an upset loss to Leonardo Mayer in the second round of the Royal Guard Open in Chile last week to down Carreno Busta in 1 hour, 25 minutes. On a day filled mostly with qualifying matches, fifth-seeded Marcel Granollers of Spain also entered the second with a 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win over Aljaz Bedene of Slovenia, while Guido Pella of Argentina defeated Guillermo Garcia-Lopez of Spain 7-6 (6), 6-4 to advance. The 33rd running of the Grade 1, $500,000 Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup presented by Lanes End brings together a superbly talented field of nine 3-year-old fillies at Keeneland, all stakes winners and seven having won Grade 1 or 2 stakes in their careers. In terms of overall accomplishments, Catch a Glimpse gets first mention as she is eight for 10 in her career including a win in the Grade 1 Belmont Oaks Invitational in July. Time and Motion turned the tables on Catch a Glimpse when winning the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes in August and the two are set to square off for the third time. Harmonize won the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks when last seen and is another with the credentials to succeed.Stays in Vegas was beaten a head in the Del Mar Oaks and can improve, as can fourth-place Oaks finisher Mokat, who previously won the Grade 2 San Clemente Stakes. Hawksmoor and On Leave are two fillies yet to run against the previously mentioned trio. Hawksmoor won the Group 2 German 2000 Guineas in June while On Leave won the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes in her most recent race.Analysis and contenders: Let me start by saying there is no question that Catch a Glimpse, Harmonize, Time and Motion or Mokat can win as all four are graded stakes winners. Most of the four have faced each other multiple times and some have taken turns with each other. On any given day, any of these vastly talented fillies can win, and I will NOT be discounting their chances one bit. However, the new faces intrigue me a lot, and they are very likely to go to post at higher odds than the four previously mentioned fillies, so those are two horses I will be considering for win bets.Hawksmoor makes her North American debut, with a three-for-nine record in Europe. Three races back, in June, in a Group 2 (a very tough level) stakes in Germany, because of the addition of blinkers, she won in a field of 16. Hawksmoor then faced OLDER filliess and mares in the Group 2 Killboy Estate Stakes in Ireland, finishing third.dddddddddddd She was not disgraced a bit when beaten a nose and a half-length for the win. In her most recent race, the Group 1 Matron Stakes in Ireland, Hawksmoor once again faced older opponents, finishing fifth of nine. For her U.S. debut, she adds Lasix and gets a local jockey in Corey Lanerie. If she is able to run back to either of her two efforts prior to the last one, she has every right to win this years Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Invitational. On Leave has slowly worked her way up the class ladder in her six starts to date. She won her first start this year, in June, and is unbeaten in three races since. Her last race was her best effort yet, as she won the Grade 2 Sands Point Stakes, at this nine furlong turf trip. Jose Ortiz is the only jockey to ride On Leave to date and knows exactly what to do in order to get her to win. The 110 Equibase Figure she earned winning the Sands Point stacks up just fine when compared to the 112 figure Catch a Glimpse earned winning the Belmont Oaks Invitational and the 111 Harmonize earned winning the Del Mar Oaks. Best of all, On Leave has demonstrated the fastest final quarter-mile time of any horse in this field, running 22.6 when winning in July and 22.5 when victorious in the Riskaverse Stakes in August. Catch a Glimpse may be tough to run down as usual, but On Leave has potential to do just that in this race. The rest of the field, with their best representative Equibase Speed Figures, is Catch a Glimpse (112), Harmonize (111), Stays in Vegas (111), Queen Caroline (101), Mokat (110), Time and Motion (112) and Try Your Luck (102).My top two contenders 1. On Leave 2. HawksmoorFor more stories like this check out Americas Best Racing. ' ' '
