PHOENIX -- The Arizona Diamondbacks did some damage against Giants ace Madison Bumgarner, but couldnt protect a three-run lead and lost 7-6 in 12 innings Friday night.Pinch-hitter Kelby Tomlinsons one-out single in the 12th drove in Brandon Belt with the go-ahead run, and the Diamondbacks were unable to extend the game any further despite putting two runners on in the bottom of the inning. They are playing for their lives over there. They know it, Arizona manager Chip Hale said. I thought our guys matched it. It just didnt come out our way.Giants reliever Cory Gearrin got one out before being moved to left field for one batter so lefty Javier Lopez could face left-handed hitter Jake Lamb, who tied the score at 6 with a pinch-hit homer in the 10th.Gearrin was then put back on the mound by manager Bruce Bochy to finish the game for his third save. With two runners on, Gearrin struck out Welington Castillo looking for the second out on a 3-2 pitch, and Castillo was ejected for arguing. Its a ball. I cannot swing at that pitch. I just said it, Castillo said about his conversation with plate umpire Dale Scott. It would have been a different game if I had walked.Yasmany Tomas grounded out to end it.Joe Nathan (2-0) escaped an 11th-inning jam in a game that lasted 5 hours, 23 minutes.Dominic Leone (0-1) took the loss.Arizona used 26 players, including 12 pitchers -- both franchise records.Gearrin became the first Giants pitcher to play the field since 2007.San Francisco maintained its half-game lead over the Mets for the top NL wild card, with St. Louis just a half-game behind New York. The Giants also moved within four games of the first-place Dodgers in the NL West.Hunter Pence gave the Giants a 6-5 lead in the top of the 10th, scoring on Enrique Burgos wild pitch. Pence had four hits and made a key defensive play in right field. The Giants turned to Santiago Casilla to try to close it out, but Lamb extended the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the 10th.The Diamondbacks made it 5-all in the seventh when Giants center fielder Denard Span dropped Chris Owings long fly for a three-base error. Pinch-runner Socrates Brito scored on the play, but Owings was thrown out trying to score. That was after Angel Pagans solo home run gave the Giants a 5-4 lead.Pence took an extra-base hit away from Mitch Haniger in the bottom of the ninth with a sliding catch in the right-field corner.Bumgarner was briefly in line for his 100th career win, but ended up tossing six innings and allowing four runs on six hits with nine strikeouts and a walk in a no-decision.The Diamondbacks built a 4-1 lead against Bumgarner with two-run homers by Brandon Drury in the second inning and Kyle Jensen in the third, Jensens first major league home run.Jensen, called up from Triple-A Reno on Sept. 3, entered as an injury replacement for A.J. Pollock in the top of the second.Diamondbacks starter Rubby De La Rosa was on a pitch limit in his first start since late May. He was activated from the 60-day disabled list before the game after coming back from a right elbow injury and threw 43 pitches before leaving for a pinch hitter.De La Rosa struck out three in two innings but gave up a run in the second on an infield single, two walks and Eduardo Nunezs sacrifice fly.We capitalized when we had to. A lot of missed opportunities on both sides, Bumgarner said. We found a way to get it done and it was a big win for us.HOWLIN WITH THE DIAMONDBACKSThe Diamondbacks celebrated the upcoming season for the NHLs Arizona Coyotes, the teams 20th. Coyotes veterans Shane Doan and Mike Smith took batting practice with the Diamondbacks. Doan, who has been with the club since it moved to Arizona from Winnipeg, threw out the ceremonial first pitch. Pollock only recently returned from his season-long rehabilitation of a broken elbow. Hale gave no update on Pollocks status. ... C Chris Herrmann broke his hand while sliding, Hale said. ... With De La Rosa activated, infielder Nick Ahmed (hip) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.UP NEXTGiants: RHP Johnny Cueto (14-5) faces the Diamondbacks on Saturday for the fifth time this season. He is 2-2 in the previous four starts.Diamondbacks: RHP Archie Bradley (6-8) has two wins in his last three starts. Sebastian Perez Jersey . But Bourque, who has missed three games with a lower-body injury, wont be in the lineup when the Habs travel to Buffalo to take on the Sabres on Wednesday. Cristian Zapata Jersey . MLS Commissioner Don Garber and Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Gimenez also will attend the session, which was announced Monday. The league has discussed placing its next two expansion teams in Miami and Atlanta. http://www.nationalcolombiafootball.com/jeison-murillo-colombia-jersey/ . Just not the game. Kyle Palmieri scored two straight goals in the third period to rally the Anaheim Ducks past the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 on Tuesday night. James Rodriguez Colombia Jersey . Following a lopsided 5-2 loss against the New Jersey Devils on Wednesday night, Paul MacLean told reporters that "theres a lack of focus, theres a lack of leadership and theres a lack of preparation" with his struggling team. That came on the heels of Bryan Murray taking the unusual step of going into the locker room at the Prudential Center and addressing the players himself. Guillermo Celis Jersey . A big centre with all the tools to be an elite player, Johansen paced the Blue Jackets with a standout game Saturday night. He had a goal and two assists for a career-high three points as Columbus beat the New York Islanders 5-2 to snap a five-game losing streak. ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman was preparing to take his usual spot in the starting lineup, only to be kept out by a bookkeeping error.Ive got to ask how that happened, Michigan coach John Beilein said. The scout coach puts in the book, and theres never been an issue with that. The lineup mistake was about the only error by the Wolverines, who rolled to a 98-49 win over Maryland-Eastern Shore on Saturday. Derrick Walton scored 16 of his 21 points in the first half. Abdur-Rahkman had seven points and a career-high 10 assists. It was the first time all season that Abdur-Rahkman was out of the starting lineup, and Duncan Robinson was there in his place.I guess they mixed it up and put Duncan, Abdur-Rahkman said. I thought it was kind of funny.Abdur-Rahkman was subbed in to replace Robinson after 46 seconds. The Wolverines (9-3) jumped out to a 19-2 lead, and Michigan was shooting well over 80 percent -- both overall and from 3-point range -- after a layup by Zak Irvin made the score 35-13 with 7:33 remaining in the half. The Wolverines eventually fell off that torrid pace, but Michigan was still able to set a season high in scoring for the second consecutive game. The Wolverines beat Central Arkansas 97-53 on Tuesday night.Throughout that whole game, I kept telling the guys, `Lets go win this possession, as if it were the game-winning possession in our conference, Maryland-Eastern Shore coach Bobby Collins said. We didnt get the stops that I wish we would have gotten.Bakari Copeland led the Hawks (1-10) with 15 points.Michigan made its first seven shots from the field and led 19-2 after a 3-pointer by Walton. It was 49-22 at halftime.Robinson had 17 points for the Wolverines, and D.J. Wilson added 16 -- including a couple dunks early in the second half. Moe Wagners one-handed, breakaway dunk put Michigan up 66-31.Wagner had nine ppoints on 4-of-4 shooting, and hes 39 for 52 (75 percent) over his last seven games.ddddddddddddBIG PICTUREMaryland-Eastern Shore: The Hawks were coming off a week-long break after a loss at Central Florida last Saturday, but the time off didnt lead to a good start in this game. This was the third game of a six-game stretch away from home.Michigan: This is a much easier stretch in the Wolverines schedule after they took on the likes of Virginia Tech, Texas and UCLA earlier. None of the Michigan players went 30 minutes Saturday, and the Wolverines left no doubt about their superiority with their fast start. They shot lights out, Collins said. Thats a good team. When theyre hitting like that, I think theyre going to beat a lot of teams.UNSELFISHMichigan had a season-high 28 assists on 34 baskets. Were a close-knit team, so you always want to hit your open friend or buddy, and you want to see them make shots, Abdur-Rahkman said. I think that contributes to more assists.HIGHLIGHTThe Michigan bench loved it when walk-on Fred Wright Jones made a 3-pointer late in the game for the first points of his career. Wright-Jones was a manager and practice player last season before Beilein had him suit up for the regular-season finale. Hes played in eight games this season.UP NEXTMaryland-Eastern Shore: There wont be as much time off before the next game for the Hawks -- at American on Monday. Saturdays game began a stretch of four in six days for Maryland-Eastern Shore.Michigan: The Wolverines will be heavily favored again Thursday night at home against Furman in their final game before the start of Big Ten play.---www.collegebasketball.ap.org and https://twitter.com/AP-Top25 .---Follow Noah Trister at www.Twitter.com/noahtrister ' ' '
