MIAMI -- New Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase likes to talk trash to his players, and the teams performance in recent years has provided plenty of fodder.Miamis most recent playoff victory is old enough to drive. The Dolphins havent had a winning season since Barack Obama became president. Last year they were outscored 139-65 by the rival Buffalo Bills and New York Jets. And they keep getting coaches fired, which is why Miami is one of six NFL clubs with a new boss. The other teams are ripe targets for insult, too, thanks to hard times.Hired to lead turnarounds:- Gase, who won praise for his work with Jay Cutler, Peyton Manning and even Tim Tebow, and is now the NFLs youngest head coach at 38;- Ben McAdoo, 39, another young former offensive coordinator who was promoted by the New York Giants when Tom Coughlin departed after 12 seasons and two Super Bowl titles;- Dirk Koetter, promoted from offensive coordinator by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they switched their fourth coach since 2011;- Hue Jackson, a former Oakland Raiders head coach given a second shot by the Cleveland Browns;- Chip Kelly, hired by the San Francisco 49ers two weeks after he was fired at the end of his third season as coach of the Philadelphia Eagles;- Doug Pederson, a former NFL quarterback hired by the Eagles after Kellys departure. In addition, Mike Mularkey was promoted to Tennessee Titans head coach from the interim job.All of the new head coaches have offensive backgrounds with mandates to score more for teams that finished below .500 last season. The Dolphins havent won a playoff game since 2000, havent had a winning season since 2008 and went 6-10 in 2015. Gase is Miamis ninth head coach since 2004, and his brash, mouthy energy has been embraced by players as a welcome change from staid predecessor Joe Philbin.Gase will talk trash with anyone on the roster, even quarterback Ryan Tannehill, believing it makes practices go faster and gives the workouts an extra edge. When you have that kind of atmosphere, you love being out there, you love competing, he said.Asked if that sort of intensity is easier for a younger coach, Gase shrugged.I dont know, he said. Ive never been old yet.Its the same for McAdoo, whos a generation removed from his 70-year-old predecessor, Coughlin.McAdoo has added more music at practice and made changes to the coaching staff, including the hiring of a new strength and conditioning coach in an attempt to reduce injuries, which contributed to last seasons 6-10 record. One thing McAdoo did not change were the clocks in the team complex. They still run five minutes fast, something Coughlin started. The Bucs also went 6-10 last season and havent made the playoffs since 2007, but hope to continue offensive improvement that began last season under coordinator Koetter. With rookie Jameis Winston taking every snap, Tampa Bay finished fifth in the league in total yards. Now Koetter has to worry about the defense, too.I love offensive football, so its hard for me to separate, he said, but my role definitely changed, and Im learning as I go.Its no longer all offense for Pederson, either. He was an NFL quarterback for 10 seasons, including in Philadelphia, and rejoined the Eagles after three years as offensive coordinator of the Kansas City Chiefs.Pederson takes over a team that went 7-9 last season. He had a 3-14 record as a starting quarterback, but sees his playing career as an asset in the new job.Being a former quarterback, kind of the leader of your football team, youre in front of the media quite often, he said. Youre the voice of the team.Kelly and Jackson can draw on previous head coaching experience. Kelly had rocky relationships with some players in Philadelphia, but said the move to San Francisco hasnt changed him.The ocean is on the other side, Kelly said. So if I was facing north in Philly, the ocean is on the right. Now the ocean is on the left. I dont feel like Im different. The 49ers slipped to 5-11 in 2015, but are only three years removed from a 14-win season. Jackson, by contrast, is the Browns sixth coach in nine years, taking over a team that went 3-13 last season and hasnt been to the playoffs since 2002.Jackson finished 8-8 with the Raiders in 2011, his only previous season as a head coach. He said hell be a calmer coach this time.I understand that youre not going to win them all, and youre not going to lose them all, but somewhere in the middle, Jackson said. Hopefully you win more than you lose.Actually, none of the new coaches is projected to finish above .500 this season, and McAdoo could have been speaking for all of them at his introductory news conference in January. This job, he said, is not for the faint of heart.---AP Sports Writers Tom Canavan in East Rutherford, New Jersey; Fred Goodall in Tampa, Florida; Rob Maaddi in Philadelphia; Janie McCauley in San Francisco; and Tom Withers in Cleveland contributed to this report.---AP NFL website: www.pro32.ap.org and http://twitter.com/AP-NFL---Follow Steven Wine on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Steve-Wine. Cheap Vans Shoes China . -- Jakob Silfverberg is making himself right at home with the Anaheim Ducks, scoring four goals in his first four games.SAN ANTONIO -- Whats the matter with Manu? Manu Ginobili isnt scoring. His game is now careless instead of famously creative. In these NBA Finals, where LeBron James and Dwyane Wade just delivered a forceful reminder in Game 4 about stars deciding this series, the San Antonio Spurs are still waiting on one of their biggest. The impatience is starting to show. "Hes having a tough playoffs, and hasnt really found a rhythm or found his game yet," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich said Friday. "I think that hes obviously not as confident as usual, and he knows full well he hasnt performed the way he would like and the way hes used to. But its simplistic to say, What are we going to do to get him going?" Simplistic, maybe. But their prospects of winning a fifth title may hinge on just that. Ginobili scored five points in 26 minutes in a 109-93 loss Thursday night, knotting the series heading into San Antonios final home game Sunday. Hes shooting just 34 per cent against the Heat and is averaging 7.5 points, down from his 11.8 scoring average during the season. Overall, Ginobili has shot 38 per cent in the playoffs, a career worst. Only one of his last 11 tries from behind the 3-point line has connected. It got so bad in Game 4 that even the Baseline Bums, a boisterous section of Spurs die-hards in the AT&T Center where the wily Ginobili is most beloved, yelled for the Argentine to quit jacking up shots. Ginobili seems to be getting fed up, too. He looked bothered by questions about his persistent struggles after shooting 1 for 5 on Thursday night and tying his third-lowest scoring game in 21 career Finals appearances. The other time he managed just five points in the Finals? Game 2 in this same series. "Its not that Ive scored 30 a game this year," Ginobili said. "Im surprised. I wish I could score more. But its not happening. I got to try to do other stuff. Ive got to move the ball. If thhe shot is not falling, Ive got to be sharp feeding the bigs and finding the shooters.dddddddddddd I dont have to force the issue. Thats not what I do. Thats not what Im asked to do." Putting a finger on what Ginobili does has always been tough to define - a quality that has made him one of the NBAs most entertaining players the last 11 years. At his most dazzling hes a fearless attacker, game-winning marksman, uncanny improviser and a master of falling-down shots that defy belief. In Game 1, Ginobili perfectly bounce passed to Tony Parker between the legs of Miamis Norris Cole - while Cole had his back turned and running. The brilliant delivery was vintage Ginobili, but his performance the rest of this series has been otherwise forgettable. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra on Friday downplayed the effect the Heat defence has had on Ginobili, saying that it occasionally has come down to him missing some shots he normally makes. But Ginobilis game has never been predicated on jump shots, and Spoelstra and the Heat are wary of him turning it on. "Weve always looked at him very similar to our guy, to Dwyane," Spoelstra said. "And what makes him probably most dangerous is the unpredictability, his ability to be aggressive and do things on the court that arent necessarily scripted. Thats where hes most dangerous. Ginobili turns 36 in July. He will be a free agent this summer and has said hes not ready to retire. Three years ago, when Ginobili was playing at the end of his last contract and plagued by injuries, Popovich and Spurs general manager R.C. Buford didnt seal a new deal until Ginobili ripped through an exceptional two months late in 2010 that showed he still had it. Now two wins from a championship, the Spurs need Ginobili to prove that again. "Hes going to get himself going or he wont," Popovich said. "He knows that hes got to play better for us to be successful." ' ' '
