Peter Wright ended Phil Taylors hopes at the Grand Slam of Darts with a brilliant display of finishing to seal a 16-10 quarter-final win. Snakebite surged into a 5-0 lead at the interval and while The Power fought back to close to within one leg on a couple of occasions, it was Wrights finishing that proved crucial as he booked a semi-final meeting with Michael van Gerwen.Both men averaged in excess of 100 in a match of high quality, but it was Wright who advanced thanks to some spectacular finishing to go with a typically spectacular outfit, and the result meant he leapfrogged Taylor into No 3 in the rankings. Wright took out multiple 100+ finishes through the middle part of the match to crush Taylors hopes of a comeback and remain on course for a maiden major title himself having lost in three previous finals.
