Barber took home a bronze medal at the World Athletics Junior Championships in Barcelona, Spain last year, where he vaulted to a new Canadian junior record of 5.55-metres. It placed him second on the Canadian all-time list behind Douglas Woods 1991 performance of 5.61-metres. No stranger to the pole vaulting world, Barkers father was a pole vaulter for UTEP in the 1980s and also had two stints with the Canadian National Team.
