In the Top 8, Mango defeated Justin Plup McGrath before taking down Swedish Delight in the losers quarterfinals. Things looked good for Mango as his Falco put on an impressive display of combos and movement. In losers semifinals, Mango and Hungrybox met yet again. Mango started strong in the set, but Hungrybox quickly answered with long combos and quick kills of his own. The set ended in an intense final game, where Mango nailed a crucial up-throw into a difficult single hit up-air in a last stock situation.In the final round of the losers bracket, Mango took the first two games against SFAT. However, SFAT showed his mental fortitude as he won the next three games to upset Mango and advance into grand finals.During grand finals, Mew2King took each of SFATs stocks with soul-shattering Marth combos. In a bracket that included three of the Melee gods, Mew2King looked sharper than the rest and took all of the sets in the Top 8 without dropping a single game.
